Don't Discard It Just Yet
There's nothing more annoying than finally getting a chance to sit down in the evening to watch a little tv only to discover that your remote control doesn't work. You replace the batteries but this doesn't help. You give it the old bump, shake and slap against your hand, yet it still doesn't respond. Then you realize, that it must have somehow lost the programming. You scramble to find the manual, but soon realize it's like looking for a needle in a haystack or more likely the paperwork was thrown away with the packaging long ago. What can you do? Well, don't throw the remote away yet. In this article you will find a list of popular remotes and their codes to use now. If your brand is not listed here, I have also found some very helpful sites (links provided below this article) that you may find your brand and model number. I've learned a valuable lesson when it comes to losing your remote control code, since I've thrown so many away out of sheer frustration. Most codes can be found online just by doing a little research.
A Handy Place to Keep your Code
When you get your correct code, here's a little trick to keep it handy for future use. Re-program your remote then write the numbers on a tiny piece of paper and place it inside your remote on top or below your batteries. This is a great place to store it for future use.
Here's a list universal remote codes to try now.
Some remotes may require you to first switch to tv mode by first pressing the tv key to switch modes, then use the power or volume keys to see if the television re-sets itself.

Thank you for putting this information in a hub. I'll know where to go the next time this annoying thing happens! I did write it down - but it was thrown away during a cleaning bout. :) I'm not certain I am comfortable placing a piece of paper so close to the batteries. Just my luck it's start smoking.
What an awesome idea for a hub. When it comes to my remote control for the T.V. I am clueless. I am bookmarking this hub for future use .. OR maybe I should take your advise and stick the code right in my remote. How clever you are!
Thanks for helping ... I am quite sure there are many of us who are clueless when it comes to the remote control. Voted up and useful.
Blessings!

Dear Becky, LOVED this hub. Since the remote is mostly in a man's hand, this is so timely and great to read. Thank YOU so much. Go, Bobbie Stoops and the Sooners!
